A strategic review and assessment of existing IT systems to gauge the efficiency of the delivery to the business. The aims are to identify the following;

- any weaknesses causing heightened risk
- confirm adequate redundancy in key elements
- challenge contingency plans and check results of annual testing
- determine remaining effective lifespan of core components
- challenge the efficiency of the toolsets
- challenge the cost effectiveness of the IT services
- reconciliation of the IT services to supporting the business plan
